Ten years ago, we introduced Smart Doll Mirai to the world. In Japanese, 'Mirai' means 'Future,' a fitting name as we now present the semi-real version of Mirai in Pear form.

When Smart Doll first entered the market, it faced a landscape dominated by established vinyl doll makers. Skeptics within the doll community questioned the need for another player, foreseeing a challenging path ahead for us.

Their skepticism wasn't unfounded. The initial phase was fraught with production and quality challenges, demanding immense effort and time to resolve. Building relationships with vendors, refining our workflows, and ensuring consistent quality were daunting tasks that couldn't be achieved overnight.

As we grew in experience and strengthened our quality control, we began to recognize a glaring omission in the doll industry. Fashion dolls, powerful in their ability to inspire and ignite creativity, were often victims of mass production, leading to a compromise in quality and craftsmanship.

This industry trend had created a void - a lack of high-quality fashion dolls that truly represented the diverse and inherent beauty of human forms. Such a gap not only curtails the creative potential of artists but also perpetuates a narrow view of beauty, favoring certain body types and skin colors.

This realization galvanized our resolve. Despite our small size, we were determined to make a meaningful impact by addressing this representation gap in the fashion doll market. Our mission became clear: to craft dolls that encompass a spectrum of skin colors, cultures, and physical diversities, including those with limb differences and medical conditions.

Ironically, as we began focusing on these minority representations, creating dolls with plus-sized figures and unique skin conditions, the very community that once doubted us shifted its expectations. They began requesting more mainstream products - the same ones they initially believed the market had no room for.

While pivoting to a mainstream approach might lead to increased sales and profit, our commitment remains unaltered. We are steadfast in our dedication to inclusivity, aiming to create dolls that mirror the rich tapestry of humanity.

It's important to note that collectors who are accustomed to perfectly manufactured, machine-made dolls may find our products different from their expectations. About the wig

The wig that comes with this character is designed with a "turnover" construction allowing the hair to be swept back while minimizing the amount of wig cap showing.
The challenge with this design is the initial difficulty in putting it on. On the upside, it ensures the wig stays firmly in place, minimizing the chances of it being whisked up by the wind and landing in dog poo.

For those with arthritis or similar conditions, it's worth noting that you can leave a note with your order requesting that the wig be attached prior to shipping. We typically add double-sided tape beneath the wig for an added layer of security, but be aware this may leave residue between the head and the wig cap. The wig, similar to any tight-fitting apparel, can leave indentations on the vinyl. While all our wigs can cause such marks, this wig tends to produce deeper and more noticeable indentations due to its construction that does not employ elastic - photos on this page are an example.

The styling oil used for the wig might sometimes permeate the wig cap, producing a residue on the head. This residue can appear dark, but it's typically the oil rather than an ink stain.

It might be possible to mitigate some of these indentations by employing a hair dryer and rubbing with some thinner (like the Mr Hobby type shown in the photo). However, outcomes are not guaranteed. If you're planning to keep the wig on perpetually, these concerns may be negligible. But if they pose a potential problem, reconsidering your purchase might be in order. It's worth noting that we don't allow options to select specific wigs, omit the wig from the order, or adjust the cost by excluding the wig's value.
