Hello to everyone in Smart Doll Land! Cory and Anna here from Kit n Kat Shop.
First and foremost, we would like to extend our gratitude and thanks to all who submitted or voted for us in the Smart Doll Creators Initiative. We are very humbled and grateful.
While most of you know us from our online stores, way back in 2019 when Kit and Kat (Kizuna and Kanata) joined us, we had absolutely no intention of ever opening a store. What we wanted were cute dolls that Anna could make detailed clothes for and we could use in our photography hobby.
Anna had been creating 1/6th scale dioramas and clothing patterns for a while, but when we found Smart Doll, we realized how much more detail could be included at 1/3rd scale. The fact that the dolls are absolutely adorable just added to the decision to move to Smart Doll for our photography and other creations.
After taking Kit and Kat on a 10,000 mile road trip around the U.S., we started thinking of ways to make better photos. Anna created clothes and patterns, and Cory came up with a way to give earrings to the girls without damaging them. Then we needed Cosplay props, and with a nudge from Diana the Doll Fairy to make a unicorn horn, we started making scaled props for the dolls to hold in photos.
We decided to sell with simple rules... Don't sell anything we wouldn't want to buy. Make everything to scale. Do the best job we can.
All of these things we were doing were still centered around us wanting things for our photos. We wanted to take pictures of a New Years Eve Party, so the girls needed Champagne. They needed fancy jewelry, so we made some.
We are very proud of the fact that we have been able to take the photos we wanted, and collaborate with other fantastic creators in the Smart Doll community, some of whom have also received this same award. All My Plastic Children; Magical Girl Kitcat; Elite Doll World EDW; My Lady Disdain... We were also very privileged to have our free doll award handed to us by Danny Choo himself at Anime NYC 2023!
Our photos of Smart Dolls have also won a few Doll Photography contests, including BJDC Texas 2021 and the Dolly Insider Cosplay Giveaway.
Once again, thank you all for voting for and supporting us. And thank you Danny Choo for creating this program that allows people to shine...
