Creators around the world use Smart Doll as a platform for expression—whether through sewing, photography, videography, or other crafts. To support that creativity, I’m making more of our actual production patterns available as free resources for you to build on, adapt, and learn from.
These are the same patterns we use in our apparel production. They haven’t been simplified for beginners, so a basic understanding of how to read and work with sewing patterns is required. We don’t offer instructions or support for these files, but there’s a wealth of information and help available through the community—and, of course, Google Sensei.
You’re free to use and modify these patterns for your personal or school projects—not just for Smart Doll, but for other doll brands as well. You’re also welcome to sell whatever you create using these patterns, even if you’ve adjusted them for a different body type.
Before printing, make sure your printer is set to 100% scale. Double-check that the ruler on the pattern matches a real-world ruler to ensure proper sizing. You may need to grade the pattern depending on the fabric type and whether you plan to wash the garment. Washing can cause shrinkage, so plan accordingly.
For apparel that’s designed to look weathered, the pattern often assumes shrinkage—so you may need to wash the finished piece to achieve the intended fit. I recommend using stretchy fabrics, especially for bottoms, to make fitting easier.
