While our success in weathering denim items is due to their ability to withstand a stone wash, thin cotton fabrics are a different story. They often ended up with too many holes, creating a garment that would leave any Smart Doll feeling somewhat shy.
With this in mind, we embarked on a journey to discover and experiment with various weathering techniques. The result was a combination of sulfide dyeing and e-flow nano mist to create a vintage wash look and feel.
E-flow nano mist dyeing is a textile dyeing technology that uses nano-bubbles filled with specific dye, which are transformed into a mist and applied to the fabric. The notable advantage of this technology is the significant reduction in water, energy, and chemical consumption compared to traditional dyeing methods. While conventional processes can use up to 150 liters of water per kilogram of fabric, e-flow technology achieves the same results using a mere 5 liters per kilogram.
The nano-bubbles penetrate the fabric fibers, ensuring even distribution of dye and producing high-quality results. The process offers a wide range of effects and finishes, from soft pastels to vibrant, saturated colors.
The outcome is a garment imbued with a vintage aesthetic that pairs seamlessly with our range of weathered bottoms. So whether you're aiming for a rugged post-apocalyptic look, a cyberpunk aesthetic, or simply seeking a casual pairing with jeans, our vintage wash items could be what your Smart Doll is looking for.
Given the nature of the process, each garment created with this technique carries a unique appearance. Therefore, even if you purchase two of the same items, you will find noticeable differences between them. If consistency is crucial to you, this might be a reason to reconsider your purchase.
