While we do restock our items, production is limited due to the nature of our small-batch process and our commitment to quality. Because of this, we prefer that our apparel primarily reaches Smart Doll owners—the audience it was designed for.
Despite clear communication in the past, we’ve received many inquiries and orders from individuals hoping to use our clothing with other doll brands. Unfortunately, this has often led to disappointment when items didn’t fit as expected, resulting in refund requests or claims that the products were “not as described.”
Some believe we should aim for a universal fit across multiple doll brands. While this could broaden our market, it would require compromising on key aspects of what makes Smart Doll apparel unique—form-fitting designs, tailored features like slits for support sockets, and garments that take advantage of the Smart Doll’s ability to be partially disassembled for easier dressing. We’re committed to preserving these distinct qualities rather than diluting them for broader appeal.
We understand that some Smart Doll owners may wish to try dressing dolls from other brands in our apparel—and that’s completely fine. Once you’ve experienced how our items fit on Smart Doll, you’re in a better position to explore how they might work with other bodies.
However, we exercise caution when fulfilling orders from individuals who appear to be purchasing solely for use with non–Smart Doll brands. This is because we’ve received numerous complaints in the past from buyers whose expectations weren’t met, often resulting in dissatisfaction or disputes. To avoid that, we encourage new customers to purchase apparel with Smart Doll use in mind.
To further reduce confusion, all product pages now clearly state that our apparel is designed specifically for Smart Doll. In cases where customers acknowledge the limitations but proceed to purchase for use with other dolls, we may reach out to confirm the order details before proceeding—or issue a refund if we feel the product is likely to lead to a disappointing experience. Our intention is never to restrict creativity, but to avoid misunderstandings before they happen.
That said, if you’re curious about trying our clothing with other dolls, we offer free apparel patterns that you’re welcome to download. These patterns were created for Smart Doll, but you’re free to modify them to better fit other dolls—and even sell your adapted designs with no fees or obligations to us. We love seeing how folks remix and reimagine our patterns to suit their own creative style.
