Maruko Halu

I first encountered Maruko-san's Smart Doll apparel designs on Twitter and reached out to her, asking if she'd be interested in designing apparel for us. Although she initially declined my offer, her designs were so impressive that I was determined to have her work on our apparel!

Eventually, she agreed, and what began as a few designs for Smart Doll evolved into a fully-fledged business designing, planning, and creating Smart Doll apparel items.

While continuing to design for us, Maruko Halu maintains a distinct style with their own apparel items that doesn't conflict with my personal design requests. Be sure to check out their online store and follow them on Instagram or Twitter.

MarukoHalu specializes in designing and selling apparel exclusively for Smart Dolls. The journey began in 2017 when I encountered Smart Doll Mirai. I discovered the fascinating world of dolls through a TV show, and while browsing various dolls on Pinterest, I came across a cute girl wearing realistic distressed denim pants and a casual T-shirt, pulling off a look more stunning than a supermodel. A doll with a beautiful body line and adorable head makeup like I had never seen before led me to Smart Doll Mirai.


I looked at many other dolls after finding Mirai, but the healthy body lines and lifelike head makeup of Smart Dolls truly captivated me. After months of having Mirai on my mind, I couldn't resist visiting the Mirai Store. The encounter with Mirai in person on October 8, 2017, at a workshop left me in awe of her cuteness. I was also impressed by the quality of the apparel items displayed at the Mirai Store—realistic 1/3 scale clothes that would look amazing in human size as well.

I wanted to create cute and cool clothes for Mirai, so I began making clothes that I wanted to dress Mirai in for my own enjoyment. As I shared my creations on Twitter and Instagram, I started receiving inquiries and requests for sales, which led to the beginning of my production and sales journey. Then, I was invited by Danny to work on Mirai Store apparel as well.

Currently, under Danny's guidance and consideration, I plan and sell apparel items for Mirai and her friends. MarukoHalu offers apparel items inspired by various scenes, such as casual, outdoor, and travel. I carefully design, choose materials, and repeatedly prototype and modify, just like human-sized clothes. The designs are based on simple and basic styles with a touch of modernity, created to fit Smart Doll bodies perfectly.

One of the themes MarukoHalu values is creating clothes that could be worn by humans if the design and materials were scaled up. Lastly, I am grateful to Danny for giving me the opportunity to do such a fulfilling job. Thank you, Danny, for creating Smart Dolls!

MarukoHaluはスマートドール専用のアパレルファッションを企画販売しています。

MarukoHaluのスタートは、2017年にスマートドールみらいちゃんに出会ったことがきっかけです。

不思議な魅力を感じるドールの世界をテレビ番組で知り、Pinterestなどでさまざまなドールを眺めている中、リアルなダメージ加工が施されたデニムパンツとカジュアルなTシャツをスーパーモデル以上の格好良さで着こなす可愛い女の子が目に留まりました。

今まで見たことのない美しいボディーラインと可愛いヘッドメイクのドール。

リンクを辿っていった先には「スマートドール Mirai」が・・・

みらいちゃんを見つけてからもたくさんのドールを見て周りましたが、スマートドールならではの健康美なボディーラインと、アニメヘッドでありながら生命感のあるヘッドメイクは自分の好みのどストライクでした。

それから数ヶ月間、みらいちゃんが頭から離れなくなり、ついにガマンできずにミライストアへ。

初めて見る実物のみらいちゃんの可愛さに瞬殺されて、2017年10月8日にワークショップでのお迎えとなりました。

実物のみらいちゃんの可愛いさも衝撃的でしたが、ミライストアに並べられたアパレルアイテムのクオリティーの高さにも感動しました。
このまま人間サイズにしても素敵でであろう1/3サイズのリアル服。

その服達を見て自分たちも作りたい、みらいちゃんに可愛くて格好いい服を自分で作って着せたい。
そう思って、最初は私たち自身がみらいちゃんに着せたい服を作って楽しんでいました。

TwitterやInstagramでシェアしていくうちに、入手先の質問や販売リクエストをいただくようになったことがきっかけで、制作販売のスタートに至りました。
そして、ダニーさんからお声がけ頂き、ミライストアアパレルの仕事も参加させて頂くことにもなりました。

現在もダニーさんからさまざまなアドバイスやご配慮を頂きながら、みらいちゃん達のアパレルアイテムを企画販売しています。
MarukoHaluではカジュアル、アウトドア、トラベルなど、さまざまなシーンをイメージしたアパレルアイテムを展開しています。

人間服同様にデザイン、素材資材選び、試作と修正を繰り返し検討して仕上げています。
デザインはシンプル＆ベーシックをベースに今っぽさも程よく取り入れながら、スマートドールボディにフィットするシルエットで制作しています。

デザインと素材をそのまま人間サイズにしても、ちゃんと着られる服。も、MarukoHalu が大切にするテーマの一つです。
最後に、こんなにやりがいを感じられる仕事ができるのはダニーさんのおかげです。
