The logo on the default sports bra is gradually transitioning from Roman characters to Katakana as older stock is depleted. Some Smart Dolls are already shipping with the updated version.
We are unable to offer a choice between the two versions, so please keep this in mind if it would affect your decision to adopt a Smart Doll.
Please also note that the position of the printed text may vary slightly from one sports bra to another. Since the fabric is sewn into a loop before printing, the start and end points of the text are not perfectly aligned between batches. As a result, two otherwise identical sports bras may have the logo positioned slightly differently.
We ship Smart Doll wearing the sports bra for a few reasons. The first and foremost is protection - without it, the sides of the arms can rub against the torso during transit.
The second is to prevent your Smart Doll from meeting their owner for the first time in their birthday suit, which may cause embarrassment. It's a bit like when you're watching Netflix with the family, and suddenly there's a completely unnecessary hanky-panky scene - everybody keeps quiet and tries not to look at each other.
Another reason is that many owners prefer to dress their Smart Dolls in apparel made by independent creators rather than purchasing clothing directly from us. We fully support this and actively encourage folks to check out the talented creators featured in our Creators section. While you're waiting for your apparel to arrive, your Smarties can at least lounge around the house in their undies.
About the fabric
While the fabric is dark in color, it has been tested for staining. We have been shipping Smart Dolls wearing these sports bras for many years and have not received reports of staining caused by the sports bra itself.
However, like any apparel item left on a Smart Doll for an extended period, the elastic fabric may leave temporary dents in the sofubi. These can usually be removed by gently warming the affected area with a hairdryer, allowing the material to return to its original shape.
About the logo
The new sports bra logo reads “Mirai Cybernetics Smart Doll Corporation” (ミライサイバネティクス スマートドールカブシキガイシャ).
The logo change was originally intended to coincide with the release of Cortex. In the Smart Doll universe, Cyber Shell Cortex are artificial humans created in a laboratory - the kind of thing that usually happens when an evil megacorporation decides that ethics are more of a guideline than a rule. In this case, that megacorporation would be Mirai Cybernetics Smart Doll Corporation :-)
Unfortunately, Cortex production has been delayed due to manufacturing challenges, but the sports bra logo escaped containment and entered production ahead of schedule.
