Last year, we shared exciting news about our venture into creating a Powered Mecha Suit (PMS) for Smart Dolls, a project under the creative guidance of the legendary mecha designer Kunio Okawara. For those unfamiliar, Okawara-sensei is a celebrated designer, illustrator, and animator, best known for his groundbreaking work on series like Mobile Suit Gundam, Armored Trooper VOTOMS, and Getter Robo. My encounter with Okawara-sensei, when he designed a car for our cherished Smart Doll mascot, Mirai, was an unforgettable honor.

Admittedly, the project has extended beyond our initial timeline, yet I'm thrilled to share that significant progress has been made, as evident in the latest photos. The PMS, standing impressively at 120cm (approximately 4 feet), is crafted from Sofubi, the same versatile material used for Smart Dolls.

Although we haven't achieved a motorized version for the Smart Dolls themselves, the PMS is designed with enough space to incorporate numerous servo motors. These motors are intended to animate the arms, legs, and feet, bringing the suit to life.

The development of the PMS has indeed been an expensive endeavor. However, we're exploring innovative ways to offset these costs, including partnerships with food delivery services. Imagine having your lunch or dinner delivered by a PMS, even to the most remote locations like Death Valley or Area 51.
