About Lace Boots
I’ve always wanted to make lace boots for our Smart Doll girls and as such we have been making prototypes spanning a few years but early prototypes continued to keep looking like toys. In 2019 we managed to come up with something that not only looks like miniature human shoes but something that really matches our line of weathered Wabi Sabi apparel. The leather will continue to age as you handle it creating a unique pair like no other.
Just a few things to note before you decide to buy. While these boots come with lining - be careful how you pose your Smart Doll - if you strike a pose where the surface of the shin (or any part of the body) comes in contact with the leather then you will have to deal with stains on the doll which may not be removable. If you are worried about staining then use socks or the Boot Cuffs. As the top of the tongue is leather, it will leave stains on the lining behind the eyelets.
Eyelets on the inside may appear greenish due to the weathering techniques - there may also be dark blotches too.
We understand that folks have their own fancy way of tying laces so we have left them for you to tie - just be sure to pull the lace tight from the bottom of the tongue to the top or you won’t have enough lace left over to tie the bow. The eyelets had to be small to achieve a decent scaled look but also meant that the lace tip is a tight fit through the eyelets.
The laces are fairly rigid so you wont be able to tie a super tight knot on the bow.
I personally prefer to tuck the tips of the lace in a nook instead of tying them.
These boots will fit Smart Doll guys who have smaller…..feet. While the High Heel Feet fit these boots, there is no need to get them.
Don't pull the lace flaps outwards as you may undo some stitching - the boot is not designed to have those lace flaps pulled outwards.
As with all our weathered apparel items - expect no two pairs to be the same - even the left and right feet may look different. As part of our weathering techniques, expect scratches, stretch marks, non uniform color and everything that makes the item look used, worn and torn.
Leather lace boots will develop a patina over time through the accumulation of body oils, dirt, scratches and scuffs. Leather will oxidize overtime to generate a unique pattern as it continues to "breathe" the moisture in the air. Some boots will look "newer" than others - if you want the leather surface to age faster then just take your girls out more often!
Please note that these only fit Smart Doll. Also note any Boot Cuffs, socks and any scenery shown in these photos are not included.
