About This Product
When we first introduced this product, most of the requests came from adults purchasing a Smart Doll for a child who had experienced limb loss. Since then, we’ve had the opportunity to speak with individuals, families, and organizations supporting people with acquired limb loss as well as those born with congenital limb differences. Those conversations have helped shape how we think about representation, and continue to guide future development.
This Above-Elbow Limb Difference Set includes both left and right upper arms with a subtle asymmetrical sculpt for a more natural appearance.
The shoulder connector will not match your chosen skin tone. This is intentional. Due to the way these parts are manufactured, the connector is designed to remain hidden during normal posing. When attaching the arm, rotate the soft vinyl shell until the internal frame is concealed.
Developing additional limb difference options is an ongoing project. We are also researching prosthetic representation, including osseointegration, although this work is still in progress.
Please note that this product includes the option parts only. A Smart Doll is not included.
If you or someone you care for has a limb difference, leave us a note with your order telling us your story. We’d be happy to include one Above-Elbow Limb Difference Set free of charge—just let us know which skin tone you require. We also provide prosthetic shin option parts free of charge.
By default, these parts are compatible with Smart Dolls manufactured on or after March 3, 2023. If you need compatibility with an earlier Smart Doll, simply leave a note with your order and we’ll prepare the appropriate version.
Donations to Organizations
We hope to help raise awareness by donating Smart Dolls to organizations that support people with limb differences.
If you represent a hospital, school, charity, or other non-profit organization, please contact us through the Smart Doll website using your organization’s email address. We’d be happy to discuss a donation.
