According to Google-sensei, this type of garment is often referred to as “Ripped Jeans,” “Distressed Jeans,” or “Torn Jeans.” However, we've chosen to name ours "Tokyo Jeans" simply because they are stitched in Tokyo.
These jeans also undergo a journey to Okayama for additional processing, including laser etching for whiskers, manual ripping, stone and bio-washing, and a secondary dyeing process to achieve a brown/yellowish worn look. Finally, a color-fixing agent is applied before they return to our Tokyo studio for loose thread snipping, quality control, and packing.
Despite some initial reservations about making ripped jeans due to concerns about uneven rips and laddering, we went ahead and prototyped them. The results were most bodacious! However, for those interested in these jeans, it's important to set the right expectations...Checkout Notes
