We’ve received a number of questions about tariffs on U.S. shipments over USD 800 — and understandably so — so I’d like to offer a bit more clarity on the topic.
Although DHL recently announced that, as of April 21, 2025, they would no longer accept B2C shipments to the U.S. exceeding USD 800, we’ve arranged for continued service with them. They’ve been consistently picking up our shipments without issue, even when the order value exceeds the threshold.
When shipping to the U.S., you can choose between FedEx and DHL at checkout. While both options are valid, feedback from customers suggests that DHL tends to handle customs clearance more efficiently when import duties are involved. That said, Shopify will default to the most economical option for your region — which is typically FedEx for U.S. customers — unless you manually select a different courier.
To clarify how tariffs work: any shipment to the U.S. with a total declared value (including shipping) over USD 800 is subject to import duties. We clearly state this at checkout, where we ask for your confirmation that you’re willing to pay these duties if they apply. Please make sure to do so — if duties go unpaid and the shipment is returned to us, we’ll unfortunately need to pass on the return shipping costs.
