How to Properly Attach Feet and Hands
Some customers have reported that the hands, feet, or lower arms on their Smart Doll detach too easily. In every case we’ve reviewed, the issue came down to improper alignment during assembly.
To ensure a secure fit, always make sure the part—whether it’s a hand, foot, or lower arm—is properly aligned with the shaft of the arm or leg before inserting. Once aligned, press the part in firmly until you hear or feel a click. This click confirms that the part has passed over a small locking nub built into the shaft. If the part isn’t fully pushed in, it may look like it’s attached but will detach easily during movement.
The images provided illustrate incorrect alignment. If you’re viewing this on a mobile device, you may need to zoom in to see the details:
- In image 1, the foot on the right is misaligned and not fully inserted, unlike the correctly fitted foot on the left.
- In image 2, the hand on the right is not aligned or pushed in fully, in contrast to the left.
- In image 3, the lower arm on the left is improperly inserted, whereas the one on the right shows proper alignment.
When assembled correctly, the locking nub helps keep the part secure and makes it more difficult to remove accidentally. To detach a part, hold the limb firmly with one hand and gently wriggle the part off with the other. Take care not to pinch your fingers when pushing parts into place.
As a side note, hands, feet, and arms are designed to be removable. This modularity is part of the intended assembly process and not a product defect.
