Shipping Cost Update
To keep things transparent, we wanted to share a quick update on shipping costs.
Over recent months, global logistics costs have increased due to fuel price changes. Carriers like DHL apply something called a fuel surcharge - this is an additional percentage added on top of their base shipping rates, and it fluctuates regularly.
At the time of writing, this surcharge is around 47%, meaning DHL’s actual cost to ship each parcel has increased significantly.
To give you full visibility, we’ve included:
- A screenshot of DHL’s current fuel surcharge table
- A link to their official page where this is updated regularly
What this means for your order
While DHL’s costs have gone up by a much larger margin, we’ve done our best to absorb part of this increase.
Instead of passing on the full impact, we’ve adjusted our shipping fees by approximately 25%.
This allows us to:
- Keep shipping available and reliable
- Continue using trusted carriers like DHL
- Avoid sudden or extreme price jumps at checkout
Why not absorb it all?
We always try to keep costs as stable as possible, but shipping is an external service that we don’t control. When increases reach this level, absorbing everything would not be sustainable long-term.
Our goal is to strike a balance between:
- Being fair to customers
- Keeping the business stable
- Maintaining consistent service quality
How we will handle this going forward
We will endeavor to keep our shipping fees aligned with what we are actually being charged.
- If fuel surcharges come down, we will review and reduce our shipping fees accordingly.
- If carriers like DHL increase their base shipping rates (as has recently happened), we will adjust our fees in line with those changes.
In short, our aim is not to profit from shipping, but to reflect real-world costs as closely and fairly as possible.
A note from us
We understand that this represents a meaningful increase and can be a financial burden.
If you would prefer to hold off on a purchase for now, we completely understand.
If you happen to be visiting Tokyo, you are welcome to purchase in person, in which case there would be no shipping fee - if that offers any small consolation.
As always, we’ll continue to share updates openly so you can make informed decisions before placing an order.
