Ends of the Earth surrounded by discounted goodies at Whole Foods Market.
Recently, you may have noticed more discounts across our products. For some folks, this is welcome news — but we also understand it can be frustrating for those who purchased an item at full price, only to see it discounted shortly after. Naturally, this has led to questions about whether we can offer refunds or credits for the difference. We want to be completely transparent: we don't offer price adjustments when items are later discounted. Our pricing reflects real-time production costs, material availability, and operational factors that change regularly. This policy applies universally — whether prices go up or down after your purchase.
Why Prices Have Dropped Recently
The introduction of the Smart Doll Guys alongside our Classic and Pear bodies — available across multiple skin tones — was initially challenging for the team and reflected in the higher launch price. Producing the Guys required more time and effort, particularly when cutting sofubi flash without optimal guides on the cast. However, these challenges pushed us to refine our workflow, optimize processes, and streamline assembly — improving overall production efficiency without compromising quality or increasing workload. This efficiency allowed us to pass savings directly to customers rather than increasing profits. For example, the Guys' price dropped as our team became more efficient in handling these production steps. These workflow improvements have also contributed to lower prices for Pear Girls and select Classic Girls. We were also able to bring the prices of limited skin tones like Green and Milk in line with our regular human skin tones. However, this has resulted in these versions selling out faster due to increased demand and less frequent restocks.
Why Prices Change
Prices fluctuate based on production realities. When we become more efficient or materials become more available, we can lower prices and pass those savings to customers. Conversely, when we face material shortages, production bottlenecks, or supply constraints, prices may increase. This is particularly true for items like our leather shoes, where limited availability directly affects pricing. Discounted products are listed in our Discounted (for now) section. We use this label because pricing reflects current conditions — what's discounted today may return to regular pricing tomorrow based on stock levels, production flow, and material availability.
Why We Don’t Announce Discounts in Advance
We understand that some folks would like advance notice before prices drop, but in many cases, discounts are triggered by events we can’t predict ahead of time. For example:
A vendor might inform us that a paint mask has broken, forcing us to pause production and adjust pricing temporarily.
A supplier may suddenly announce that a material or fabric we’ve been using will be discontinued, impacting availability and future costs.
During stock takes, we occasionally discover we have more inventory of a particular item than expected, which can prompt a short-term discount to free up space.
Because these situations arise unexpectedly — sometimes even daily — it’s challenging to give advance warnings about discounts or price changes. Announcing them too early could also create confusion if circumstances shift again before the sale actually goes live.
Our Commitment to Value
Rather than maximizing profits, we focus on delivering fair value. When production efficiencies allow cost reductions, we prefer passing those savings to customers rather than increasing margins. When costs rise due to material or production challenges, prices adjust accordingly to maintain quality and sustainability. Despite rising costs industry-wide, we've maintained our Classic Girls at 52,000 JPY since 2017. We'll continue working to deliver the best possible value while maintaining the quality you expect from Smart Doll.
We hope this helps you make an informed decision and purchase with confidence. While prices may go up or down after your order, our commitment remains the same — to be transparent, fair, and focused on delivering the best possible Smart Doll experience.

To help your order ship smoothly, please note that we’re unable to accommodate the following requests:
1. Discounts
2. Lowering the declared value for customs
3. Rush / ASAP shipping
4. Delivery by a specific date
5. Settling who shot first - Han or Greedo
Requests like the above may result in your order being cancelled and refunded, as we simply can’t support them.
We don’t own DHL or FedEx (yet), and sadly we don’t have cosmic powers to control delivery dates or import taxes. Once a package leaves Japan, timing and duties are handled by the courier and your local customs office.
Thanks for understanding - this helps us ship your Smart Doll safely and fairly to everyone :-)
